Instructions for Invoicing
- Create a SmartCat account (takes about 30 seconds!)
- Submit your invoice at the link above (what should my invoice look like?)
- Withdraw your payment at your own convenience, using any of multiple payment methods (varying by country)
We like to make this process as simple and efficient as possible for our freelancers, so we don’t have a lot of complicated rules you need to follow. Just make sure your invoice is complete!

Invoicing FAQs
Can I submit my invoice through ProZ or Paypal?
We are happy to pay by Paypal but do not accept electronic invoices through ProZ or Paypal as we must retain copies for our records.
What payment methods do you offer?
Since your payments will be distributed by SmartCat, you can choose between many different payout methods (including bank wire, Paypal, Payoneer, and a variety of local options depending on your country!
SmartCat will not charge a fee for any method other than direct bank wire (bank wire incurs a flat USD $3 fee) however payment providers such as Paypal or Payoneer do charge small percentages.
Your bank may charge fees on the receiving end – unfortunately Meridian has no way of predicting these fees and cannot be responsible for them.
To minimize your fees, you are welcome to accumulate several payments before you withdraw! Or make an immediate withdrawal, whichever best suits your needs.
Who pays the bank fees?
We pay all fees incurred by our own banks and payment accounts.
SmartCat will charge the recipient a flat USD $3 per direct wire transfer, if you choose this method.
Meridian cannot be responsible for Paypal, banking, intermediary banking, or currency exchange fees incurred on the side of the recipient.
Should I invoice each job separately, or all together?
You may choose to invoice for each job separately, or to bundle several jobs together. It is up to you!
How quickly does Meridian Linguistics pay invoices?
We pay within 15-30 days of receiving your invoice.
Does Meridian Linguistics offer rush payments?
For most assignments, we offer rush payment within 1 week, for a fee of 5% of the invoice, and for amounts under USD $2,000 only. For this option, please confirm with your Project Manager that the assignment is eligible for rush payment, then ensure that your invoice contains all the requested information above. Clearly indicate on the invoice AND in your e-mail that the invoice should be processed rush. Please be sure to indicate the amount of the rush discount on the invoice.
